-Distinguishing marks: Rude has more earrings than your average teenaged girl... and he wears them all at once. Once he started, he just couldn't find a good reason to stop, so he didn't. Aside from that, he has a roughly six-inch long burn scar on his left leg from when he and Reno removed Rufus from danger. Aside from that, various other scars he's gathered over the years, as well as the loss of sensation in two fingers on his left hand.
-Build: Rude is huge. He's tall, broad, takes meticulous care of himself, and has really big feet. He's not the kind of person you want to meet in a dark alley in the middle of the night, or really in an alley any time of day... He's just not the sort of guy you want to find yourself alone with if you've got a guilty conscience.
-Voice: Deep and a bit on the quiet side. Rude doesn't say much, so it's best if you catch it the first time around.
-Clothes: His uniform. Sometimes, it seems Rude is working more often than he's not, and so he just got into the habit of wearing suits. On his off days, he'll wear slacks and a button-down shirt, and that's about as casual as he gets until it's time to hop into bed naked.
-General Appearance: Intimidating. His rigid posture, towering height, and impressive physique all combine to lend Rude an air of untouchability. Not many people care to approach him, as he rarely smiles, and the hints of a frown can often be seen just above his sunglasses. Despite being as tall and broad as he is, Rude moves quickly and quietly, and has scared a good decade off more than one person by popping up unexpectedly.

Rude II
-Brief Personality: Rude is a fairly simple man. He believes in getting something done with the least amount of fuss possible, and he applies that to most things in his life. When he has made up his mind to do something, that's just it; he'll do it, and if he doesn't do it, there's a damn good reason why he didn't. He's not prone to making excuses, and if he screws something up, he'll admit it. Then he'll turn around and figure out a way to do it right next time, and better.

A quiet man by nature, he certainly isn't the type to open his mouth unless he has something worthwhile to say. The only time that really varies is when he's around Reno, considering the other man is the only person he really considers a friend. His sense of humor is understated and often missed, though to be fair, it isn't often he gets to display it.

You could say that Rude is the cliched "gentle giant" but doing so would underestimate him severely. Yes, he is a calm man, and yes, he can be gentle when he wants to. However, when he's on the job, he's deadly serious about that job, and if you're part of the mission objective... well, whatever needs to be done, will be done. He will lie, cheat, steal, and kill without a second thought if the job requires it, and even if he doesn't exactly love himself for it, it's the job. He made the decision and he'll stick with it.

He's not the sort of man who carelessly loses his temper. Often, Rude will simply regard people as annoying and deal with them accordingly. The few who have truly managed to make him angry... did live. They just didn't do so comfortably. His temper, once you finally get around to inciting it, is a terrible, frightening thing. Mostly because he will never, for a moment, lose his cool. He will be utterly calm and his mouth will never waver while he breaks every bone in both of your hands and casually makes his way up your arms.

He doesn't enjoy being cruel, but when the job calls for it, he delivers.

-Brief Background: Rude was born and raised in Midgar, though his family always clung to a level just below comfortable living. His life was fairly uneventful until his father got an unexpected "windfall" when he was eight, and moved the family to a better section of Midgar.

Naturally, windfalls were about as common as miracles in Midgar, so there was a dark slant to the situation. The truth came out a few years later when one of his father's "business deals" went bad and he was found with a bullet in his head and cocaine in his pocket. It was revealed that Rude's mother had knowledge of her husband's illegal commerce, and she was put in prison while Rude was tossed into the sector home for orphaned and abandoned children.

Which was basically a dead end. Never a reckless or volatile boy, Rude found his living conditions and the environment very displeasing, and he toughened while he was there. When he was sixteen he simply left, and no one really cared enough to look for him.

He made the mistake of trying to mug a traveler who ended up being a traveling martial arts teacher, and ended up getting his ass kicked. However, what surprised both Rude and the other man was that, instead of slinking off to lick his wounds, he asked to be trained. The most valuable thing he had left was his mother's wedding band, which he traded to the martial artist in exchange for lessons.

He proved to be an apt pupil.

Some years later, he was approached by Tseng to become a member of the Turks, and after considering it briefly, he accepted. He was still fairly new when another Turk was brought on the team, a man named Reno, and though their personalities were far from similar, somehow, they clicked. Since then, they have been nigh inseparable, and if there's a mission where partners are required, they will inevitably work together. Over the years, they have developed a silent sort of communication, as well as simply knowing one another that allows their teamwork to be flawless. (Except, of course, when Bahamut rears up out of no where and Rude stops short just behind Reno's arm... but we won't talk about that.)

Rude III
He's been simply doing his job since then, though there was one major hurdle in his career. He fell for an AVALANCHE spy, and even though their feelings were mutual, it simply couldn't work out. Since then, Rude became even more distant emotionally, and breaking through the layers to get at this man romantically is more effort than most people are willing to put forth. He doesn't trust easily, and he certainly doesn't love easily.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

-Skills: All the basics for a Turk -- espionage, intimidation, stealth, strength, a high tolerance for alcohol... aside from that, he's almost ungodly skilled at poker, and he can cook. He even briefly entertained the idea of becoming a chef, as with a little polish he could probably be that good, but he opted for a life with the Turks instead.
-Occupation [if any]: Senior Turk of Team 1 (and joint leader. Sigh.)
-Weapon(s)[if any]: Rude is a martial artist first and foremost, though he has been known to dabble in explosives when the mood strikes him. He wouldn't hesitate to, you know, pick something up and throw it, either, if it seemed like a viable option.

Third person writing sample: Rude considered himself a man with a great deal of patience. He was fairly certain most people thought the same, especially if they'd dealt with him for any length of time. He wasn't prone to losing his temper, and the most reckless thing he'd done lately was add a new spice to an old dish. Level-headed and calm, that was Rude. He was good at his job because of those traits, had become indispensable to the company for the very same.

Rude was not a man inclined to lead. He was a Turk because he was good at it, and he knew how to do his job. He didn't want to spend time instructing other people on what he saw as common sense. He didn't want to be the authority, didn't want to be the fallback man, and he certainly didn't to be a babysitter to rookies. He'd had enough of that with Elena, and that had been unofficial work.

The memo in his hand was about as official as it got. He'd known for a few days that he and Reno would co-lead the first team of Turks, and even if he hadn't been exactly pleased about it, he could tolerate it. When you put your mind to it, you could tolerate a lot of things. But now that the day was finally here where he had to face his team, gauge their skill, and instruct them...

Mouth set into a grim line, he crumpled the paper in his hand and tossed it toward a wastebasket without bothering to watch its descent. This was still his job, but the job had changed. He would just have to deal with that.

But he'd let Reno do the talking.
